Coming Soon: TPL Newsletter


The Thomaston Public Library will begin circulating a newsletter this summer, describing upcoming library events and news along with information about the library and our staff and volunteers. The email version will be sent out monthly and a paper version will go out four times a year.

To subscribe, send your name, mailing address and email address to TPLnewsletter@thomaston.lib.me.us or ask for a paper form at the circulation desk.

This comedy drama from Jean Renoir chronicles the revival of Paris' most notorious dance as it tells the story of a theater producer who turns a humble washerwoman into a star at his newly created Moulin Rouge. It stars Jean Gabin, who was known as the French Bogart. Edith Piaf makes a brief appearance.
Doors and bookstore open at 6 and admission is free. Donations gratefully accepted. The Thomaston Academy Building is handicapped accessible by the parking lot entrance. For more information call the library at 354-2453.

The tempestuous American beauty, Isadora Duncan, who lived and loved by her own rules, is brought vividly to life in this fascinating biography. Vanessa Redgrave received a much deserved Oscar nomination for her performance as Isadora, who became known as the high priestess of modern dance. Also stars Jason Robards.

Poetry Workshop

Poetry Writing workshop
for children and young adults

Local teacher Dena Davis will host a poetry writing workshop for children aged six to ten on Wednesday, April 21st, at 1 PM in the multipurpose room of the Thomaston Library. Registration for this event costs $5. To register, contact Dena Davis at 354-0614.

New Dollhouse in the Children's Library

This new dollhouse, purchased with funds from the Maine Charity Fund grant and assembled by Kay Masse is a beautiful addition to the children's library. The dollhouse features three levels, a working light, a picnic table and is fully furnished.

The Lighthouse will officially be dedicated to the memory of Amelia Grace Dashiell at a ceremony to be held later this summer.
The Library staff, Trustees and volunteers would like to thank Kay for her hard work assembling, painting, and outfitting this lovely dollhouse.
