To Kill a Mockingbird

The movie is set in a small Alabama town during the Depression. This adaptation of Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel follows Atticus Finch (Gregory Peck), a lawyer who defends an innocent black man (Brock Peters) against rape charges, but winds up in a fury of hate and prejudice. Finch's children, Jem and Scout (Phillip Alford and Mary Badhman) soon learn lessons about race, justice, and the pain of growing up.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the 211 Bookshop will be open before the film showing. All Friday night films are free admission and open to the public. Call the library at 354-2453. Refreshments will be served and donations are gratefully accepted.
