Strangers on a Train

New Displays at the Thomaston Library

Three new displays have been unveiled at the Thomaston Public Library in the last few weeks. A display of Thomaston school artifacts on loan from the Thomaston Historical Society is currently on display in the entry corridor of the library. The artifacts will remain on display through the winter.

An artwork display featuring photography by Neil Shively has been installed in the library's lower level. Neil's photography display features photos from the area as well as Ireland, Africa, and other parts of the United States.

And in the main wing of the library, a doll collection owned by Friend of the Library Lysbeth Andrews, along with some loans from Corinne Darby, will be on display through December. The dolls are all handmade fisherman and mermaid dolls, created and sold by the Port Clyde Baptist Church Sewing Circle as part of their annual fundraiser. Andrews has been collecting the dolls for several years, and Darby is a member of the sewing circle.

Summer Art Display: Jill Langdon

Jill Marie Langdon is the first featured artist
displaying her oils and watercolors from the spring season in the lower level of the Thomaston Public Library. Her work may be seen during the months of July and August.

Thanks to a generous grant from the Davis Family Foundation, the Thomaston Library will begin featuring local artists and collections of cultural or historic interest throughout the year.

Jill is also displaying other works in the Thomaston branch of Camden National Bank, and one can meet the artist on the Thomaston Green most days, weather permitting.
