Help Wanted: Assistant to the Head Librarian

There is an opening for a permanent part-time librarian (32 hours, five days per week, including some Saturdays, no benefits) to staff the circulation desk in the Youth Center (toddlers through teens). Must be organized, conscientious, energetic, and love young people.

Job Summary:

The Assistant to the Head Librarian manages the day to day operation of the youth center circulation desk and serves the needs of patrons using the library. Periodically, this person will also work in the technical services department, processing new acquisitions or repairing damaged materials.

Salary: $8 to 10$/hr commensurate with experience

Job Opening

The Thomaston Public Library has an immediate opening for a qualified, experienced Children's Librarian.  The position requires creativity, attention to detail, a love of children and children's literature, and experience working with groups of children.  Duties include planning and running children's programs, selecting children's materials to be purchased, cataloging and processing new children's materials, maintaining and organizing the children's library and teen area, and maintaining and updating the children's computers.  This job requires a Bachelors degree in the humanities or education, and library experience is preferred.  

This is a 30 hour a week position and will include Saturdays.  Pay commensurate with experience.
