Bee Workshop

Bee-Keeping Workshop
with Peter Lammert

Wednesday, May 27th
6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Did you know that bees are the only insect which provide food for human beings? Or that bees buzz because their wings stroke 11,400 times per minute? How about the fact that honey bees can fly for up to six miles, and can go as fast as 15 miles per hour!

Join us Wednesday, May 27th at the Thomaston Library for a presentation from local bee-keeper Pete Lammert on bees and beekeeping. He'll share introductory tips on raising these fascinating insects as well as more of the lore of bees. The workshop will 'bee'gin at 6:00 p.m.

Origami for Children

Origami Workshop
Local student Katie Mcguirl will lead interested children in an origami workshop in the Children's Library.  Origami is the Japanese art of folding paper to create the shapes of animals, plants - anything you can imagine.  Katie will teach us how to make basic origami shapes and animals.  Refreshments will be provided, and this event is free of charge.

On Monday, March 16th, the Thomaston Library will host a resume writing workshop featuring Susan Barnard of the Rockland branch of the Maine Career Center. She will lead a three hour workshop in the drafting, preparation, and proof reading of Resumes as well as Cover Letters.

This event is free of charge, but we do ask that interested persons register by e-mailing Brian Sylvester at headlibrarian@thomaston.lib.me.us, by calling the library at 354-2453, or by signing the sign up sheet on the main floor of the library.
