Henri-Georges Clouzot helmed this icy masterwork of homicide and Grand Guignol suspense. Clouzot's real-life wife, Véra, portrays Christina Delasalle, ailing spouse of the sadistic headmaster (Paul Meurisse) of a moldering private boarding school, and sexy Simone Signoret plays his manhandled mistress. Together, the women mastermind and execute his murder, but their plan goes haywire when the corpse vanishes.
DIABOLIQUE was produced in 1955 and runs 116 minutes.
The other films in the series will be October 16, THE NIGHT OF THE HUNTER, October 23, PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, and October 30, NOSFERATU.
Admission is free but donations are appreciated. The Academy Building is handicap accessible by the elevator in the parking lot.
Call the library at 354- 2453 for further information. Doors open at 6:15 but the book store is now closed for renovations.
