Thomaston Green celebration: Saturday 11 to 2

Join us on Saturday, July 24th from 11 to 2 at the Thomaston Green to celebrate the unveiling of Thomaston's newest neighborhood. Library staff will be on hand to distribute summer reading program incentive prizes and FREE library memberships, and the Friends of the library will host a story time for children of all ages on the Green.

At 12, assemble at the flagpole for welcomes and remarks from Town Manager Val Blastow, Senator Chris Rector, State Representative Chuck Kruger, and a brief history of the Maine State Prison presented by Thomaston Historical Society curator Peggy McCrea.

Free food will be provided by the Thomaston Cafe, Waterfront Market, Billy's Tavern, Applebee's, Athen's Pizza, Harborview Restaurant, and Subway. In addition, Mike Mayo and Pete Lammert will grill hot dogs and hamburgers for all.

The celebration will feature performances by Steelin' Thunder, Dory in the Desert, and the Midcoast Community Band, games and activities for kids and representatives from organizations all over town. Bring the whole family and celebrate the redevelopment of the Thomaston Green!
